Thanks Dexhiker for 10/25/09 trip report about the two blow downs, which we were able to clean up except for the main trunk of the lower one, just below the first bridge about a mile up from the base, which will require a chain saw. Steven Martin and I also removed a large leaner about two miles up, just below the second bridge, which might have become more problematic this winter should we get another deep snowpack.

Also, all 200 (+/- 10) water bars are now clean of leaves and debris, if that matters to anyone. Sorry that we were not able to get this work done in time for trip by erugs on Sunday; we must have been an hour or two behind, as the main summit cleared by noon allowing me a 35-minute diversion from our work project.

To answer the question by erugs, I do not think that the Hurricane Trail gets a lot of use; I have only hiked it once or twice as a loop during light work trips on the Glencliff Trail. The Hurricane Trail actually climbs a lot more from both sides than one might think, unless one closely inspects the contours. Also, I think that a map is usually a better deal than a guidebook based on an info/weight ratio.
