The Weld Trail trail to Pyramid was already broken out by a group that had come through on Fri. 02/04 (thank you). On Sat. 02/05 our group of 5 snowshoers broke out the trail from Pyramid to Gothics through maybe 12" of snow. We also broke the Range Trail from Gothics to Armstrong. There were several snowshoers behind us, so this section of trail should have been well packed by end of day Sat. The 0.5 mile trail up Sawteeth is also fully broken out. Snowshoes were required by our group all day on Sat; crampons were carried but not needed.
Sat. nite this area received 6" of wet/heavy snow. On Sun. we re-broke the Weld Trail from our campsite (Elev. 3200' +/-) back down to the road - and about halfway to the gate before the snowmobilers had started their runs.
