Trails were all packed and very firm with a slick surface from the recent thaw and refreeze. Crossings weren't bad but did require stepping on rocks a little below the surface at times. A couple of big blowdowns. North branch of Loop Trail had been extensively butt-slid, so was tricky on the descent.
I wore snowshoes for traction but they weren't needed for flotation and Mike managed well with Microspike ST's. Some traction recommended. Waterproof boots nice for the crossings.
Comfortable day with lovely, fast-moving clouds and some sunshine. North outlook has been "improved" recently and presented fine views. We encountered five others on the ridge and several Crack O'Nooners on the way out.
