I've been on a "trailbagging" binge lately. First it was the R-D in Harriman, then it was the Devil's Path, next was a Shawangunk traverse, and most recently, a Great Range traverse; all within the span of two months or so. This Fall I'll be doing an S-BM traverse in Harriman, so I figure I might as well bag another one of Harriman's long distance trails: the Long Path.
I propose the Southern terminus of this hike to be the county park by routes 202/45 and the Northern terminus at one of the PA's on Route 6. Water can be cached at the intersection with Seven Lakes Drive.
Almost any weekend is good for me. Anyone else crazy enough to do this traverse in the middle of summer? The distance is about 26 miles.
