Sorry for the short notice, but FunkyFreddy and I will be camping at Sage's Ravine tentsite this weekend starting tonight and packing up Sunday. We are hiking in tonight and plan on hiking saturday north on the AT til we feel like turning around. We are meeting Chip and Alpinista sometime saturday. Then on sunday, some of us will be hiking somewhat south and west to do Bear mtn and Frissell while regailing in weird CT trivia and haunted Taconics stories for sure.

If you want to join us, just go to Sages Ravine and look us up or hurry up and email me before I leave today at 2:30pm.

Jay

p.s. not sure if Sage's Ravine is haunted but after Fred and I get there, it sure will be!!! bwwaaahahahahahahaaaaa

You guys definitely are spooky! :D ;) See ya there tomorrow.

Me and my height challenged posse of 4 (sons and friends aged 10 & 11) will be at Undermountain Trail parking around 2pm, hiking up and under on Paradise and should be setting up in Sages around 3:30. We'll probably hike up the A.T. to Bear Rock Falls before din-din and will be hiking out over Bear Sunday morn.

Watch your food handling this weekend. Thars animules in them wuds.
See y'all tomorrow.

PS: To anyone who is concerned about the hauntings; there are just as many ritualistic moon-lit dances, disappearances, unmarked shallow graves and bizarre lights and noises on other sections of the A.T. as there are here...I think.

Please give us a trail report if you make it out alive. Sorry I can't join you on this one.

BTW was the Leatherman ever seen up there?

Sure Puck, unlike the previous trips I've done, I remembered this time to pack my camera. And Fred takes lots of pictures, probably more than me.

Chip, Fred brought the bear canister for both of us so we should be good for that aspect.

Looking forward to the weekend's weather, since it's supposed to be great. And I'm looking forward to seeing Rt 44 by car as opposed to my bike. It's a nice drive/ride.

On a related note, Nancy, JohnS, Brian and I will be hiking into Riga shelter tomorrow morning, spending the afternoon and night there, enjoying a nice chill day of reading and playing cards and then hiking with an early start on Sunday to Jug End Rd . . . don't know if our paths will cross but I would be thrilled if we could run into each other.

Holy VFTT'rs Batman ! You'll be hiking right past us ! What time do you think you'll be on the trail Sunday morning ? You could stop for Second Breakfast in Sages. Or we could all meet up on Bear, me and the boys are heading out that way.

Hey, if Riga Shelter is occupied, Brassie Brook camping area and lean-to are just about a mile further north, not as good a view, but more tent sites and the lean-to there is less likely to be taken. Or skip the view, hike over Bear and camp with us in Sages !

Excellent !!! Keep your eyes open for me and my crew :D
We are looking to get to Riga early to snag a spot. If for some reason Riga is full then we will head on to Sages Ravine and camp with you guys but I would love to stay at Riga and enjoy a sunrise on Sunday.

My plan for Sunday is to hit the trail 7 am or soon there after and so if you are still at Sages at about 9 am or 10 am, we would love to stop and have a second breakfast.

What fun !!!! How unlikely that there are so many of us headed to CT for the weekend.

I like the idea of hooking up with a gang atop Bear Mountain! Looking forward to this mini- and spontaneous VFTT gathering!

No worries about the hijacking! On sunday, perhaps we should all just meet at Bear Mtn since that is somewhat between Riga and Sages... Riga/Bassie B. is our plan B, in the odd chance that the tent sites at Sages are full.

I can't say that we'll still be sages at 9am, but I believe our first thing on the agenda is to go down to Bear and then frissell..
