Trail well packed with loose granular surface. Snowshoes not required but traction a must. Microspikes worked only for a while then had to switch to Crampons due to the loose nature / steepness of the trail. No blowdown to speak of. Trail was pretty enpty (only passed one pair on the trail on the way up)
Weather was teens to 20's in temp with some wind but not too bad. Snow was falling lightly all day. Took me 2 hours to reach the ledges overlooking Lonsesome lake (I think I am a slow hiker) only an hour to get back down though. Enjoyed nice snack and tea at the ledges while watching the overcast/ undercast try to lift. Beautiful rime ice / snow covered landscape about 1 hour up into the trip. Beautiful Winter day.
