After spending a lovely and relaxing ten days in Colorado, it was time to head north.

Nebraska's highpoint is in the southwest corner of the state, just a couple of miles away from the Colorado and Wyoming borders. This was another easy "summit," as all we had to do was drive.

Scenes and views from the highpoint (notice all the bison droppings!).

Next stop: South Dakota.

Good stuff, Trish, Alex, and Sage.

Nice lizard on Black Mesa, but no snakes, I gather.

Did you drive up to any of state tri-points, such as the three around the Oklahoma panhandle (all within an hour of Black Mesa), or the CO/WY/NB marker, which is within a mile of the NB HP?

You picked a good time to miss the heat and humidity back here!

Bison Droppings

:cool:Nice report as usual. You saw the droppings ,did you see any Bison?as mentioned before we had to move them out of the way to get to the high point.I hope the girls saw them they are awesome up close.
Really looking forward to your report on Harney Peak.(SD)

Hi Dr. D, it was a horny toad, I think...and no, we didn't see any snakes. Luckily, the only rattlesnake we've seen on this trip was back in Arkansas, and we were in our car (it was sunning itself on the road).

I tried to find the tri-state marker near Black Mesa, but I got lost. The one close to the Nebraska highpoint is in a pasture with roaming bison, and the owners now discourage anyone from trying to access it (technically, one is allowed, but I thought we'd play it safe).

We did get to see bison, but not in Nebraska. We saw a bunch of them while we were drivign through South Dakota, bu the side of a road.

I will try to post the Harney Peak report tonight, but current reception is slow. Might have to wait a couple of days, when we take our last meet-Hugh break.
