"Hike Vermont Day"? Ever heard of it?

Hiked Camel's Hump on Friday with a friend an our dogs, and ran into a LOT of 12 year-olds. According to someone my friend Trish chatted with at the trail head, some schools in Vermont have a "hike Vermont day" where they give the kids the day off to go hiking. I may have some details wrong (my dog does not like crowds or kids, so we didn't stay to chat) - has anyone heard of this?

I think it's a great idea, assuming you can organize the kids so they actually DO hike.

Never heard of it, but at this time of year I would say that everyday ought to be a hike Vermont day... But then, I guess the kids have to go to school sometime.
