Looking to hike something not too far from North Conway on Saturday as I have a workshop at 7PM at the Eastern Slope Inn. Anyone want to join me for a hike in the area with a not too early start time Saturday? Anything from Pinkham Notch might be a good possiblility, or maybe something along the lines of the Carters. Feel free to post here or send a PM if you have any suggestions or would just like to join me.

Hey, were you in North Conway at lunchtime on Wednesday, near IME? I thought it looked like you, but wasn't sure?

I can suggest a few that would require less driving:
  • Kearsarge N.
  • Green Hills
  • N. Moat loop
  • Mt. Parker or Cave Mt. or both (a particular favorite)
  • Doublehead

Jim and I have done Kearsarge North several times when we had to be back early, and we just did the Moats a couple of weeks ago, though I would think about doing that again. I think the Green Hills are a bit less than what I'm looking for in a hike though, but I have heard it's a nice one. Guess I'll have to see, it might depend upon who comes along. I'll have to check out Parker and Cave, never heard of either one of those. Thanks so much for the suggestions though; it's greatly appreciated :).

The trailhead for the Mt. Langdon Trail is in Bartlett. At the flashing traffic light at Bear Notch Rd., go north for a short distance. There is a small parking area across the street from the trailhead on the Saco River.

Less than a half a mile in, the unmarked trail to Cave Mt. branches off to the left. It is easy to miss. The area around and on Cave Mt. is fun to explore and a good picnic spot.

The Mt. Langdon Trail goes up and over Oak Ridge, and connects with the Mt. Parker Trail, which goes to the summit and beyond. Views from Mt. Parker are as good as nearby Mt. Crawford.

If you're not obsessed with higher elevations the Crippies via the Mt. Stanton trail are a nice side venture with plenty of views, although the trailhead is a little off the beaten path (near Bartlett). Iron Mt. also has some nice views but it is a short trip.
