11th Annual List of Maine’s Most Endangered Historic Properties Announced
Portland, Maine. Today, Maine Preservation announced its 11th annual
list of Maine’s Most Endangered Historic Properties at a press conference
outside the Kennebec County Court House in downtown Augusta .
Amongst the 6 selections this year, the Stockholm Mountain Fire Tower in
Stockholm ME was nominated. The town wants to save this structure and
create a public recreation area with the Tower as a historical part. With
"Endangered" status, it raises local awareness and helps focus on efforts
to preserve. Only 6 properties declared "endangered" in past years have been lost.
