Plan to do this pk after doing North-West Hancock, going up via Arrow Slide & down via Cedar Brook Slide. How is the bushwhack if one started bwk via Cedar Brook trail?

Where do you plan of jumping off the Cedar Brook Trail?
What route do you plan of taking?
This peak is generally not bad but it's sister peak to the south has a well earned bad rep. I can offer no detailed advice for the main peak unless you get ideas that include climbing or descending to the south and then ya might want some advice.

As JWS says the 3600 peak is OK from the W but going over the 3500 peak is crummy. If you know for sure that you'll never want to do the 770 you could try a straight BW from the slide on NWH, otherwise just bash your way over the other 2 peaks on the ridge like everybody else.

Greetings everyone!

OK, here is my planned route for 14th Oct. If I don't make it back to my car at least someone will know where to search...

After coming down Cedar Brook Slide will follow CB trail northwest to 2000' contour line, where small brook comes in from right (East). This will be my starting point for loop over 3194' Pk & Hitchcock 3600' Pk. Will try to come back as close as possible to my starting point [248° mag. to 3194' Pk, then 185° mag. to 3200' contour line, then 136° mag. to 3600' Pk, then 74° mag. to 3200' contour line, and then 10° mag. to my starting point, hopefully].

Want to do this as an orientering exercice and for fun & the challenge and not for 3K bagging. If time (daylight) permits may also go for 3331' Pk on my way back on CB trail [162° mag. from 2520' contour line off trail].

I did the route you describe (in reverse) last year. From CB largely open to NW PK 3194', thick briefly down into the col but then herd paths along the ridge to main summit @ 3600'. Another thick section in the col over to the S PK 3500' but then pretty easy going to E pk 3331' and the CB trail again. Have fun!

Hitchcocks after NW Hancock

Let us know how it goes. for a slow guy like me it is an ambitious agenda. I support Roy and John in their poor view of the route to S. Hitchcock from the East peak. My possibly inaccurate understanding o fthe 3331 peak is that it is West Huntingdon and, if so is very thick on top but not bad for most of the ascent.
