Sat. Jan 23, Left Rt 73 9:30am, 11 degrees, quickly warmed up (high 20's, low 30's) with fabulous clear blue skies, a photogs dream day. Packed powder nearly the entire trail, including the rise to the summit and on summit. There are several granular areas on Mossy Cascade ascent prior to crossing creekbed, but very doable with grip-ons and poles. We carried snowshoes, but never felt the necessity to put them on(the forecasted rain will change that). The sunshine, warm air temps and no wind allowed for an hour stay on summit. The only possible reason we would want to descend- SU Men's Basketball Game and Olympic tryouts for women's figure skating.
