Started at end of Spruceton Rd. Buttermilk Falls flowing hard after all the rain we have had. Trail wet, a stream in some places. Found marker for "bushwack" to Southwest Hunter. Followed trail right to canister. Had lunch at Devil's Acre lean-to, nicer than I remembered. Reached tower before rain. Good, cloudy, hazy views in all directions. Rain came at the 1.6 mile marker to the parking lot. Not much we could do but put on the rain jacket and hope to stay a little dry. Rain stopped before we reached the cars. Overall a good first hike of the year, bugs not bad, views OK, good company. Enjoyable day.
