Nice report and pics...it was so HUMID!!! After reading and talking around a bit it became apparent to me that the fox probably was not rabid, but had been getting regular handouts from idiots (humans.) Still a good animal to avoid! The rain was unreal...I think my boots have finally dried out.

It was nice to hike with you and Hannah...hope to do it again some day.

Thanks Mike! I just added the picture of the fox. Maybe he was just tame (which is unfortunate), but several others had also mentioned the possibility of it being rabid. You just never know, and better to be safe than sorry.

Nice reports and pix.

I just wanted to let you and Hannah know that that plant could very well have been poison ivy! I have it on my legs and arms, and I think Mike has been itchy. I guess I shouldn't have offered myself up as an experiement.

Lightning...Bad

It sounds like you had a blast, despite the heat and danger of the lightning. I have this strange fear (probably a phobia) of lightning and I don't know what I'd do if I got caught above treeline. I have a hard enough time watching a lightning show from 30 miles away at night let alone having it overhead or right on your back! I seriously try to get below treeline by noon or one oclock on questionable days so I can actually finish before the storm hits period. I need to get over this fear.....

Tuco - I didn't think you actually tested the plant!! What a bummer that can be! Although I bet my bug bites could challenge your poison ivy!
