We left the parking lot at 9 AM and had lunch at Indian by 11:30. The view was awesome. We took the Fish Hawk Cliff trail down from Indian Head which apparently doesn't get much use. We had to put snowshoes on in the col to get through. Finally we connected to the main DEC trail to Colvin where the conditions were much better. We had lost a lot of time however on the trail from Indian Head to the trail to Colvin.

There was snow all the way to Colvin, but stabilicers were sufficient if you stayed on the monorail. The views from Colvin were outstanding with beautiful clear skies. The forecast had called for clouds/rain, WRONG! We had clear blue skies.

We then moved on to Blake. This part was slow and rough going due to mud and a little ice and rock ledges that required skill and concentration getting down. Finally we made it to the Colvin Blake Col. The hike up to Blake was pretty easy, but still we were anxious, knowing we had to get back up Colvin.

We had a nice chat with a guy from SUNY Plattsburgh, but we didn't catch your name.
On the way back, we hiked via Gill Brook enjoying the thundering water. We caught glimpses of the Fairy Ladder Falls which was also in full force. However, as time was short, we didn't bushwhack to the falls.

We used everything we had at some point, snowshoes, crampons and stabilicers due to the changing spring conditions.
