About 2" of snow covered in a rain-glaze of ice. Barebooted almost all the way till I got to the Indian's "chin". Took one look at that vertical notch encrusted with ice and broke out the crampons. Went up it no problem. Maybe Yak-Trax or Stabalicers would have been good enough, but I hike alone and try not to take chances. Other than that it was an easy hike, but loud. CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH with every step.

Required: Yaks, or Stabalicers, or maybe just bring the big spikes. You may not need 'em, but if you do, you do.

It was starting to rain as I descended the Jimmy Dolan Notch, and then rained very hard as I drove out. Conditions have probably changed.
