Once past the first few hundred muddy wet yards, there is plenty of snow in the woods.
The rim of the pond is icy.
No special foot wear needed, bare boot is the way to go. Conditions might be changing fast if the weather warms up.
Attention:
Sly Pond Road is shut down by the Town Of Fort Ann a few miles before the large Hogtown parking lot. So, there is no access to the trails on Shelving Rock...Sleeping Beauty, Buck Mountain, Shelving Rock Mountain at this time. I don`t think the town would approve of parking on the road where the cut off area is.
