Date of Hike: 26 January 2008

Trail Conditions: Trail is now well packed out including bushwhack route as well as Isolation/Davis Path route. Avoided most stream crossings by bushwhacking. No bridge on northernmost crossing on Isolation Trail.

Special Equipment Required: Full winter gear, poles, and snowshoes along with map and compass. Altimeter useful.

Comments: Left at 6:30 and was met by a hiker coming from behind near Engine Hill. Bushwhacked together along east side of brook to miss first crossing. Met up with Isolation Trail for a few tenths before crossing at the point where the trail turns up and away from the old RR grade (at the turn sign on trail). Headed WNW to try to hit the Davis Path north of Isolation but multiple spruce traps and obstacles kept us heading directly up the summit cone where we ultimately came out on the summit. Descended on the Davis Path and Isolation Trails. Expected a solitary day but this was the place to be. At least 9 of us out there today. This is well-broken until more snow.
