Trail had been broken after the snow on Thursday. I followed one or two pairs of snowshoes as far as the loop jct. They went up to Webster. The trail to Jackson was filled in but not too bad until I hit the flat section just before the cone. It was drifted with snow that looked like sand dunes. I plowed through only being able to take about 10 steps at a time. The snow was up to my knees and thighs with snowshoes. The cone was just as bad. Finally at the top the snow was blown off but it was icey. The wind was howling and visibility was only a hundred feet or so. I was contemplating going over to Pierce but I knew it would be tough going. On the descent met up with Justin, Rob, Krestin and an AMC group headed by Patty. Nice talking with them. Snowshoes and face protection for the summit. A nice snowshoe track all the way to the summit now, with a few barebooters mixed in. Too bad we'll have to start all over again after tomorrow. One step over blowdown. The trees are very heavy laden the higher one climbs.
