The day was hot. At 8 AM it was already 70 degrees. By early and mid afternoon the temperature was in the high eighties. There are some downed trees along the trail and the trail through the swamp has not been rerouted or boardwalked, which would be of great help. Up on the ridge the walk is beautiful and there are cairns mostly marking the way. The wildflowers are out, especially trout lily, trillium and dutchman`s breeches. Due to recent snow melt the trail in spots is quite muddy. Be prepared for black flies as the warm weather has them out in volume.
