Well After reading all the Trip reports from the Pound The Pressie's weekend I am jonesing for some hiking. I've been stuck on nights for the past 2 months and haven’t gotten my nights hikes to fruition quite yet. These reports and pictures have been keeping me going.

Here are some pictures I wanted to share from my last trip. Back in April me, my dog, and my roommate Tom climbed North Kinsman. We went up the Cascade brook Trail, then up the Kinsman Pond trail, up the Ridge trail (AT), Down the Fishing Jimmy Trail to Lonesome Lake hut, and back the Cascade Brook Trail. I hope I got the trails right, I don’t have my book with me at work here to double check. (I will tomorrow).
Anyway after about 1000' we hit snow. It wasn't to bad on the Cascade Brook trail, but the Kinsman Pond Trail was pretty bad. We were postholing every few steps. My dog would keep coming back to check up on us, and tease us for being so slow. We took a brief stop at Kinsman Pond to eat lunch and then pushed on for the summit. After Kinsman pond the trail was grea, just enough snow to make it flat and fast, no postholing though. Which was quite a relief from our experience on the Kinsman Pond trail. * As a side note it's really eerie to be walking up the trail and hear the water rushing underneath your feet. On the Kinsman Pond trail there was a stream we were walking over and across quite a bit.

Ok so coming down was awesome! We were able to glissade on our boots most of the way to the Lonesome Lake hut. It made going down really fast and really fun. Luckily for Tom and I we have good balance. I think Tom only wiped out once :D . No pics of that. It was the first time we were able to outpace the dog all day.
Things got a bit tougher just before the Lonesome lake hut as there was some substantial ice on the trail instead of snow, and the snow became rotten where it was not ice. Once below the lonesome lake hut things got smooth again, and thankfully no more post holes (phew). We got back to the car without incident

Here are the pics

Better late than never! And that picture of one of you and the dog while you are negotiating the ice flow reminds me of me all last winter in the Dax! I always enjoy a 'cool' trip report in the summer! :D
