Castle Trail was mostly dry and free of snow below the Link with patches of steep, slick ice and hardpacked snow between the Link and Treeline. Circumnavigated the peak on Cornice Trail with more snow than the north facing Castle Trail, with fairly large snowfields making the trail difficult to follow at points. Steep snowfields west of the summit were challenging. Israel Ridge had several feet of soft snow in most places and wasn't clear of snow until passing the Emerald Trail. River levels were high and dry crossings were not possible, but it wasn't too difficult or dangerous to cross.
Equipment: Spikes or crampons on Castle Trail. Snowshoes on Israel Ridge.
