Just wanted to share with people what a great trip I just had back East. It was great to see old friends - human and mountain. Although it was humid, we had decent weather overall - rained on us a bit the first day, but by the time it started we were in the hardwood canopy, and it let up by 9:30AM the following day when we started up Greenleaf. Also ran into several old friends on the trail and in the restaurant on top of Washington. Here's a synopsis of the hikes I shared. Hope to do some similar when I'm back for another week in September.

July 12, 2006- Lincoln/Lafayette via Falling Waters, OBP
July 13, 2006- Lafayette via Greenleaf/Skookumchuck
July 14, 2006- Washington via Ammo/Jewell
July 15, 2006- Adams via King Ravine, Chemin des Dames, Valley Way
July 16, 2006- Moosilauke via Asquam Ridge, Beaver Brook, Gorge Brook

Hi from Dalraida & Hillwalker

Hi Kevin, Sorry to have missed you. Especially now that MooseHillock is now in my backyard.

How is Brutus?

Brutus is doing well, Tom - thanks for asking. He stayed in CA on this trip, trying to stay cool. I think the entire country is in the midst of a heat wave.

Just missed you!

Hey Kevin, nice to hear of your doin's back east. Pretty unusual I didn't bump into you, I was on Adams at 8 am on the 15th heading south, but then, you could have been 3 feet away and not visible through the black flies. Maybe seeya in September... -John Jaeger

Hey John -

Glad to hear you're still pounding the peaks - haven't seen you since you finished the winter 111 so I thought maybe you'd retired to Vibrams!

Did Adams with my friend Jeff, and we were in no particular hurry, especially since it was 4th day in a row of serious hiking. The original plan was to go up via Airline, and then ... it morphed. Jeff hadn't done much in King Ravine, and once we at that first open spot in the 'floor' of the Ravine, Chamin Des Dames seemed to call to us. It's been a long time since I'd done that trail, and it was alot of fun, especially the 'hole' you have to wiggle thru. Having gained the ridge we headed over to Thunderstorm Jct since we'd seen Bill D, Pete C. & Patty, plus John and Janet earlier and they were heading that way via the Great Gully. So, we gabbed and had lunch at the cairn before going on to the summit. Was probably about 1:30PM before we summited. They headed down via Airline and Jeff and I went down the backside on Star King.

It's a small world - while having lunch Bill mentioned that he and a gang of the usual suspects were coming out my way to do Whitney in early Sept via the Mountaineer's route, so I'm planning to do it as day hike and catch them on the summit. Should be alot of fun, especially since it will have begun to cool down a bit by then.
