Well, it was rainy and wet but I wanted to get out and hike, so I talked a friend into going up Kearsarge with me. It was a good hike and it was SNOWING at the top. We hung out in the tower for a bit and had a snack and listened to the wind howling and the windows rattle. Nifty. I will have to return there one of these days after work to see a view... We beat the book time by quite a lot, I think it was the slow and steady pace that was matching the slow and steady drizzle and the slow and sad mood I have been in. It was good to get out and be on a trail. Somethimes I think the woods are even more beautiful in the rain, they look so lush and alive. But a hot shower felt really good to come home to. It was nice to be hiking in the snow for what will probably be the last time this season. There were a few spots where we may have wanted better traction, but it was pretty easy to get by without crampons. Hum, where to tomorrow?

Glad to read that you got out, and yes, there is something about hiking in the rain that is really nice. Maybe it is just knowing there is a hot shower at the end of the day. Depending upon where you may roam you will be seeing snow for at least a few more weeks. Areas between Whiteface and Passaconaway still had over two feet last week and do not get much sunlight.

Yeah, it was good to get out of the house and get onto a trail. I want to start mapping out the rest of the hikes to work on the 'Birthday' goal. I think the real goal is to just get out there and be hiking... Finishing up a list will just be a fringe benefit. Take care, hope the ankle is all healed.

Sorry for any confusion, Yes, it was Kearsarge North, in Bartlett. The hike was fun, I will definately have to go back up and see what I missed for views. All we saw was snow whipping at us sideways!
