Sue and I are planning to hike The Kinsmans and Cannon this Saturday (2/20/2010). The planned approach will be a clockwise loop from Lafayette Place. In other words, we’ll hike The Kinsmans first and then Cannon.

Anybody want to join the fun?

The latest check shows more terrific hiking conditions are expected for the day but we’ll continue to keep an eye on the forecasts for any changes. Snow amounts from the expected storm could have an effect. Heavy snow and drifting could limit the hike to only the Kinsmans.

We hike a moderate pace, which is around book time or a little more.

If you’re interested in joining the fun or have any questions, please respond to this thread or by PM.

Here are the details...

Our plan is to arrive at Lafayette Place a little after 6:30am and be on-trail by 7:00am.

Park: We’ll park at the trailhead lot for the Lonesome Lake Trail adjacent to Lafayette Place Campground in Franconia Notch.

Hike: We’ll hike a clockwise loop of the Kinsmans and Cannon by way of the Lonesome Lake Trail, Fishin’ Jimmy Trail, Kinsman Ridge Trail, Hi-Cannon Trail, and then back to the trailhead on the Lonesome Lake Trail.

We plan to start hiking by 7:00am and hope to be out around 6:30pm. Winter conditions can make the hike run longer.

Distance – Elevation: 12.5 Miles, 4750 Feet.

Estimated hike time: 10 hr. 50 min. (including breaks, etc.)
