Date of Hike: 2/28/2009
Trail Conditions: Basin-Cascade and Cascade Trails were bare bootable. Cascade Tr south of Basin Cascade was not broken out.
Kinsman Pond Trail was not broken out, but is now. I broke one set of tracks up, then three guys followed my tracks down. Section around the pond felt like a bushwhack but an occasional blaze said I was on trail. Other guys just walked the pond but it was too slushy for my concern.
Kinsman Ridge and Fishin Jimmy well packed out.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes from Kinsman Pond Tr to top of summits and back. Bare booted below Kinsman Pond.
Comments: Thought about doing the bushwhack from Kinsman col to Kinsman Pond Trail. Went a few hundred yards before it got thick and spruce trap laden. Went down by Fishin Jimmy instead and connected back by Cascade Trail. Good to see Dougeh on South Kinsman after we both decided separately not to do Adams today.
