Trail Conditions: Lonesome Lake was nicely packed (the caretaker had just sledded down to end his shift!). Fishin' Jimmy had 2-4" of soft snow on top of a solid base. Kinsman Ridge was heavily drifted. I had to break 4-12" of snow (Thankfully very little was a foot deep). It's now well broken but if the wind picks up it will drift over again. One easy to step over blowdown, otherwise clear sailing!

Special Equipment Required: Traction essential on the steep parts of Fishin' Jimmy. Snowshoes a great help on the ridge. Lonesome Lake could be bare-booted. I used my MSR Lightning Ascents the whole way and continue to love how they adapt to most anything.

Comments: Very cold day (-9 F at my last stop at the Waterville Valley exit at 8:30am) but virtually no wind. The day started off incredibly blue and sunny and I was looking forward to amazing views but right after Kinsman junction it became totally socked in.
