nhmtnhiker and I left concord before 5 and hit the bridal path at 5:53. real hot and sticky out. hour and 20 minutes later we hit the hut. the crew looked at us like we were weird being out that late. imagine that! laffs. no snow the whole day, didnt rain a drop on us. so far I havent hit a drop of rain in about 6 after work 4000 footers hikes. unreal. we kept going up, i was thinking we would just go about 20 minutes and turn around, but what the hey, we kept going up to the summit in about half hour, which was in and out of this little cloud. we had nice intermittent views of the pemi and bonds and twins and owls head. colder and windier up there but i am on strike against wearing a shirt while hiking. temp at hut was 72(so it wasnt THAT cold). we headed back down rapidly, popped our heads in at the hut as if to let them know we were on our way out, and put on headlamps after we got down the steep part below those nice cliffs. we got out in about an hour and a half. i gotta get a digital camera and start documenting all this craziness. Hey if you can do Lafayette after work with a 3500 foot vertical rise, what can't you do after work? everest next week, stay tuned.
Thanks for coming to nhmtnhiker, and setting that blistering pace out from the car on up.
