Trail Conditions:Hard packed snow to around 2500 feet where the snowshoes came out though some barebooted to the hut without much trouble..Snow deep and loose in places along the Agonys.. Snowshoes the rest of the day. Windblown hardpack to Lafayette was perfect in snowshoes..Wind was howling causing some drifting along the ridge but no ice to speak of. Climb to Truman was a bit interesting in a couple of spots but the footing good. Falling Waters a beautiful snowshoe descent and we cut off trail through the deep snow in many places..A blast!!
Equipment: Snowshoes, wind and sun protection..While it was fairly warm the persistant 25-30 wind with higher gusts brought my shell out.
Comments: Great conditions..great far reaching views into Vermont..Washington had a special cast to it yesterday..not a cloud to be seen anywhere..saw a dozen people or so along the ridge..some unhappily barebooting into the wind...
