trail conditions;up to eagle cliff lots of leafs,not bad.after eagle pass ice was a factor.[i went very slow without traction,3 amc dudes went right by like there was no ice]no ice next to hut.amc peoples were packing out some heavy loads while others were shuttering the place up.ice was nasty at different spots after that on way up to top,it did loosen up a bit later.some snow on trail below summit was soft but ice was mixed in.
spec. equipment; heavy windbreaker,gloves and warm clothing,poles
comments;i thought i had the forcast right but it was vicious up there with nasty wind at noon.saw yahoos setting up camp right next to a do not camp sign below hut,right off of tr.!Glad folks from Oregon I saw made it down the ice from the hut. off to cali soon for vacay,happy hiking.
