Latest on Mt. Mansfield?? Planning winter hike

I am thinking of doing this tomorrow (12/21). I see from previous threads that the Sunset Trail looks like a nice choice. Does anyone have the latest info on the approach to the park or the trail itself (or other wise suggestions, for that matter)?

First Hike of Winter

Bagging a winter peak was not my concern (I just have a manufactured excuse to be near Mt. Mansfield so I have to climb it, right?). However, I have just checked with Mr. Peabody, and if his calculations are correct, winter climbing season begins officially at 0741 EST tomorrow, the 21st. Nothing like a two-fer.

Mansfield New Years weekend/ accomodations

I'd like to do Mansfield that weekend. Does anyone know reasonable places to stay in the area? Thanks.
