A great day to be in the woods yesterday. Crystal clear conditions for the
no-warmup hiking from Notch Lake trailhead up onto the ridge. Bookah hadn't been outside for a few days and she was levitating up the rocky terrain.

We started to run into a little snow below 3k, and a steady inch or two higher up.
After a break at the Devil's Acre leanto, we headed to the old railroad bed.
Matthew's 11 year old son, Richard, led us along the old railroad bed and then up right to the canister, where the signing the log book of his first canister was accompanied by the snapping of camera shutters.
Then back to the leanto for lunch and the long slog up Hunter where we met Robohiker who was volunteering with another volunteer and NY Ranger to put a new roof on the cabin.
After a climb up the tower and chat with the volunteers, it was off and down Becker Hollow. The upper portion of the trail was steep, snowy, and icy, so Microspikes came on to avoid a spill on the treacherous footing.
The temperature was perfect and company fun. A real pleasure watching a new peakbagger get his first two 35ers and Richard was fun to be out with. Looks like his mom and dad have done a good job.:)
The kid has gotta come up with a trail name, though.
