I noticed looking at maps on CalTopo today that the Forest Service layer appears to have numbers for every trail/trail segment (5 digit red numbers). Is that some sort of universal trail ID for pinpointing an exact location?
Also, how do you show the legend on these maps? There are lots of other markings on it that I assume would be of interest. Been using CalTopo more and more since I found out about it on VFTT. Would like to know how to display the legends to learn more about each map. If anyone out there can refer this to me it would be appreciated. Thanks.
