Like alot of climbers around Boston, when I can't find the time to drive all the ways to the White Mtns, I like to head to the Blue Hills. By now I've red-lined about 20% or so of the 125+ miles of trails and hope to eventually do them all.

This weekend I did some hiking around Kitchamakin Hill (near the Chickatawbut Overlook parking) and found one particularly beautiful 'narrow trail' I wanted to bring to everyone's attention: it runs parallel and a little east of Slide Notch Path, running from the Bouncing Brook Path in the south to the Skyline Trail / Sassaman Notch Path intersection in the north.

It seems the trail was blazed at one time, but the blazes have been painted over with black paint, so you have to look carefully to figure out the way to go in a few spots. There are some great views along the way, including one where you see nothing man-made, just treetops. Some of the climbing's on the steep side but it's only about 200' over all. Well worth checking out if you're in the area.

Anyone else have some nifty out-of-the-way spots in the Blue Hills they want to let us know about?
