Route: Liberty Spring and Franconia ridge via the Basin parking area.
Unless you really, really like a ton of mud followed by slushy waist deep snow, I'd avoid this until it melts out a bit. The trail isn't in great shape. Even with snowshoes, I postholed quite a bit because even parts of the "monorail" are rather slushy (forget about trying to go off of it.)
Both summits are clear. You can probably bareboot the "monorail," but snowshoes would be advised.
The river crossings are very manageble and ice free, but their current depth basically ensures that your boots will get wet.
Great mountains, but probably not the best climbs on a 70 degree April day.
