Had some time coming to me from work. With this weekend's weather forcast looking bleak we decided to tackle Liberty and Flume. We decided to take Liberty Spring trail to the Franconia Ridge Trail. All the stream crossing were easy. There were several mud pits that were easy to avoid, I'm certain they are worse now. We met the caretaker for the tent sight on the way up. Pleasant fellow. The summit views were amazing. No clouds, no wind, temps around 70. But the bugs were out of control. My legs were bleeding from the bites. Only stayed long enough for some hurried photos. On to Flume and to the summit in short order. More photos, and for some reason the bugs weren't as severe. Gave us time to take it all in. Trip down was pretty uneventful, but if you slowed down at all the bugs made you pay.
