So is the Lincoln Woods visitor area open, accessible to park and take trails out of right now (fee or otherwise)? With all the commotion over the closures due to the trail repairs of the past many weeks and now the conflicting information out there about what is and isn't getting closed due to the government shutdown I have officially lost track of what the hell is going on in that area. There are some trail reports on NETC but they don't really address these issues in the "Parking/Road Access" section. I was planning a hike there this coming Columbus Day weekend. Would like to park my car there and take the Lincoln Woods Trail as a starter but I certainly don't want to get fined, have my car towed or some other shenanigans by the WMNF, police, government snipers or some other malevolent entity.

If anyone has hiked out of there recently and can shed some light on the exact status it would be appreciated. It's about a three hour drive for me to that lot. Thanks.

On Saturday, Lincoln Woods was open and the parking lot was filled with leaf peeper vehicles and leaf peeper buses. Bathrooms were closed. The pay station tubes were sealed in plastic with signage indicating no fee.

See post 60 government closure for this. Of course they can always change their minds!
