I performed a good-faith search for previous threads. Found one on camera bags. I suspect a thread has to be out there, but I can't find it.

Anyhow, it's end-of-season sale time, and I am looking for a pouch to hold my iPhone that I would connect to my shoulder strap. Hyperlite sells one for a ridiculous amount of money, even on sale.

What do folks have that they like, and what should I avoid?

I bought the Granite Gear Add-on Pocket and love it. My iPhone 13 Pro in LifeProof case fits perfectly and the pocket is just large enough that the phone slides in and out easily. The foam padding protects it from impact and I think also insulates it to help with battery life. If I start a hike with 100% battery and have 2 apps tracking over about 4 hours, my battery will still be 95% or better at the end. This is also with pics and video taken, messaging with friends, etc. It can be mounted horizontally or vertically, on shoulder straps or hip belts. At $28 it may or may be priced ridiculously, I don’t remember what I paid but it wasn’t that much.

My favorite is the Hyperlite Shoulder Pocket. It's large enough to fit my S24 Ultra, which is a pretty big phone. Yes the price is stupid expensive, but I've bought 3 of them despite the price because they work so well. I don't like the Zpacks version because it's a drawstring type closure and not a waterproof zipper like the Hyperlite. But if you want to try the Zpacks version, PM your mailing address and I'll send you one for free.
