If it ain't snowin' there, we ain't goin' there.
Mike Dickerman recounts today in his Foster's Daily Democrat column the reports from local sources on the west side of the Whites of many trees down from the recent nor'easter. The reported damaged areas include Lincoln--Woodstock, Twin Mountain--Bethlehem, and Whitefield-Lancaster-Jefferson.

grouseking reports here on VFTT that there are many trees down at Velvet Rocks in Hanover.

Timberland owners in Hanover and Orford report damage is some of worst since ice storm of 1998.

It will be interesting to hear reports from Lafayette, etc. when people get back from the weekend.

Interesting post. I'll keep that in mind as my favorite season for bushwacking is just starting.

Happy Trails :)

The Air Line up to Adams is a mess, at least in the part between the open hardwoods down below and the open ridge above treeline. Lots of blowdowns that force detours.

Lots of postholes, too, but we can't blame that on the storm. :(

Lafayette wasn't bad Friday only a few minor ones across Falling Waters and Bridle Path. Lots of litter down low.

Campton got hit hard, from exit 28 to Upper Mad River Road there were countless trees down, BIG trees. Worst was right at the bridge over the Mad River where yesterday there were 3 or 4 huge pines just snapped in half and still power lines down across the road. My friend who lives in the area just got power back YESTERDAY!

I hiked from Cardigan to Mount Orange (or Gilman, depending who you ask) yesterday and there were many blowdowns. With the generous snow depths and no tracks to follow, the going was slow to say the least. I expect the less frequently maintained trails will be tricky for a while.
