Trail conditions: Sweet! Took the Wedge Brook. Cold morning so the bare trail was mostly solid but with an occassional small mud hole. No snow to speak of until you start the steep pitch up above the campsite. Then it accumulates quickly. Barebooted until the junction then used micro-spikes and Yak Trax. Crampons would have been better. Trip to Lower was good and fairly quick. Trail over to Upper was tough. Some real icy stuff underneath a couple inches of powder and we had all left crampons in the car. Slow going. I wore snowshoes back down. We needed a rope to come down that steep little pitch near the bottom that's always a bear no matter what season. Temp stayed cold all day so the trails never softened.
Special equipment: Crampons still useful. Poles a munst.
