Trail: Johns Brook to Lower Wolf Jaw
Date Hiked: 12.08.07
Conditions: Starting from the trailhead at The Garden Parking the trail is a compact layer of snow aiding walking with or without snowshoes. Once you cross over the John's Brook near the lodge (2.5 miles from the Garden parking lot) the trail is more powder and technical snowshoes are recommended. Only 1 tree fall that we had to cross over which was a huge improvement over all the trees that were blocking the way 2 years ago. It was about 1 foot of virgin snow on the final accent up to the saddle where you make the decision to go upper or lower Wolf Jaw. On the accent to lower Wolf Jaw ice flows were common and crampons are needed to make it to the top (no doubt in my mind).
Special Required Equipment: Snow Shoes and crampons
