A Wyoming couple is trying to prepare a list of the lowest peak in every state, using the Western definition of a 300' col requirement. Some flattish states such as DE have no such peaks.

The current candidate for NH is Jeremy Hill in Pelham at 575'. Anybody know anything lower? I climbed it years ago when it was an active fire tower but I hear access is restricted now.

at the highest point (345 feet) what do they use for florida's col requirement - if there is nothing else higher than 300 feet with a col that meets the requirement the highest peak could also be the lowest? (i guess in the absence of a 300" col you would have to use the state line and ocean???????)

If you decree that in the absence of any points with 300' col the point with the greatest col is a peak, then yes it is both the highest and lowest peak since it is the only peak :) Note that the FL state HP is not the most prominent point in the state which is down in the peninsula somewhere.

I think "nebushwacker" uses such a system for his lists such that you chop off each state at its borders like a giant earthquake fault so that points outside the state aren't considered as affecting the prominence of in-state points. I don't know anyone else who does this.
