Trail Conditions: Indian Pass trail was great skiing. Trail to Wallface ponds was deep untracked snow, and "gone missing" for the last part.
Equipment: Touring Skis for Indian Pass trail. Snowshoes with lots of floatation from Scott Clearing.
Comments: We skied in via Indian pass trail. Probably about half a dozen blowdown obstacles to negotiate. A ski/knee breaker exists coming back on the last hill before hitting the Heart Lake loop on the way back. Descend cautiously. We switched to snowshoes to ascend up from Scott clearing. Took our group of five people trading lead position almost four hours to break trail until we got to the tiny un-named pond just before Wallface ponds. At this point we could not find any trace of a trail further. We tried bushwacking towards Wallface ponds to no avail... too many spruce traps in deep unconsolidated snow. Tried finding the DEC trail to no avail as well. Finally named this little pond "Lost MacNaughton Lake", gave up, and went home. Trail is now tracked out quite well. Sorry about many confusing tracks in half a dozen directions at the final pond... Ski back was lovely!
