Followed Slide Brook to rock slides on Macomb. Scramble through the loose stuff was fairly easy and safe going up. kept going up from there thinking we were close to top. till we found survey disc. They have also nailed a trail marker type disc to tree on Macomb and S.Dix, not sure if all have them.( 15 yrs ago we had canisters). trail was not to muddy and cleared of blown down. Dropped down to col between was quick and had nice dry rock to peak at S.Dix. Came down Lillian Brook to main trail (Elk Lake). ADK book says not to take Lillian Brook, but it has been cleared and is very easy coming down. Steep at first then leveling off. Fog but clearing giving great views during near peak leaf season.
