I remember reading about this being done many years ago (pre or very early GPS years). Whatever group, I don't remember anymore, was doing it actually had a book of roadkill pictures with specific traits to look for to help you identify the subjects in question. Since they don't always look like their prom pictures in nature magazines after they have been off'd by a tractor trailer.
