Mansfield via Long Trail - 2/15/14
Trail Conditions: Trail is packed all the way to Taft Lodge. We're planning on taking Profanity Trail but opted to follow the packed trail, which apparently deviated slightly from the actual trail (Long trail).
Watch out for skiers.
Special Equipment Required: Snowshoes, mountaineering axe may be useful too.
Comments: Just below the steep face leading up the ridge, we caught up with the trail breakers, with poor visibility and getting close to their turn around time, they decided not to attempt the summit. From there on, there's nothing to follow but head toward the barely visible ridge line. Soft snow kept letting go under my feet, I ended up remove the snow basket of one of my trekking pole and use it as an axe to make my way slowly up.
