"Everyone" was heading to Monadnock today! The park headquarters lots were packed. We parked in a spot in the campground. There are so many trees down that it is hard to to imagine it being open for camping this year.

Trails: Parker to Lost Farm to Cliff to Smith Connector to White Arrow -- trails we'd never been on before. Saw Thoreau's and Emerson's seat and tried to figure out what the Graphite Mine was. Went back down via White Cross. The crowds on the trail kind of reminded us of the route to Half Dome in Yosemite. Some folk had real hiking gear on, others had sneakers and were carrying handbags or just a small bottle of water. One five year old girl was enthralled with her hike up the trail. We'll see her posting here in a few years, I'm guessing. One largish group we saw heading down looked well prepared. turned out they were a Boston Chapter AMC trip.

Spotted one -- just one -- yellow violet. Swatted a few black flies. Grabbed handfulls of the little remaining snow to help cool us down.
