We went up the Ammo Ravine Trail to the Lakes Hut, on to the Monroe summit, and back down the same way. Had to pay $5 to park at the Cog base lot instead of the more distant trailhead lot, but with 4 kid's along for the hike it was a bargain to save 1.5 miles of hiking. All trails are in excellent condition and easy to follow, even in dense fog. And, the hut croo made a mean bowl of soup! The amount of work done on the avalanche portion of the trail just before the Gem Pool is amazing. You'd never know that a short time earlier the trail was almost completely obscured by a twisted snarl of downed trees. Nice job, maintenance crew!!
