Trail Conditions: Ammo to Gem Pool smooth sailing on mostly dry rock. Above the second crossing some pretty interesting ice most of the way to the hut. Monroe Loop dry, Crawford Path, Gulfside, and Jewell all dry rock, no ice, and easy going

Equipment: Microspikes barely adequate on ice rivers on Ammo..If I had brought the crampons (stupid) I would have put them on ..Warm and breezey ..just a great day..

Comments: After all the glowing up high trip reports from the past few days..well..I just had to go. The ice must be growing by the minute in spots on Ammo that were treacherous with spikes..never mind barebooting..Goes to show how quickly conditions can change.. Saw a younger couple who had also come up Ammo on Washington that were quite pleased when informed that Jewell Trail led back to their car as they had no desire to descend via that route..Pretty dicey icy..Got treated to a broken down Cog on the summit and cheerfully waved for the stranded passengers. Descent via Gulfside stunning and uneventful with zero ice.. Great day to be out...
