Privately managed camping sites exist on both of these northwestern Maine lakes, in the Rangeley area. For those who have paddled these lakes, is either lake advantageous over the other- campsites, launching, issues with wind, jet skiis, wildlife, etc?

Thanks.

Both Lakes are excellent. I have only been to Richardson during the off season so I don't know how they manage their sites during the season, but there were some very beautiful sites, some even with sandy shorelines.

Mooselookmeguntic...
We had excellent luck a few weeks ago in late July and were surprised that there were still empty sites available for reservations.
The sites were excellent and the privies (outhouses) were cleanest that we have ever seen.
Boat traffic was minimal, we saw no jet skis, which is always a blessing.
We definitly asked for advice when we made our reservations. Sometimes, on either lake, camp sites that look like the "perfect spot" might be quite another
thing when you try launching or landing from them.
Of course the Loons, Bald Eagles, and Moose certainly make for a nice trip.

Good luck... and of course watch out for thunderstorms...
